The Friends of the Public Gardens
* Please note that the Gardens are closed to the public during the winter months because of concern for safety, operational costs, and reducing the environmental impact of visitors on the turf and walkway surfaces.
Except in winter, the Gardens are open every day from 8 AM to Dusk
While the birds are there for all to enjoy, visitors are reminded NOT to feed them, especially ducks, because this can make them dependent on an unnatural food supply and interfere with their natural migratory patterns in the fall and spring. Visitors to the Gardens are encouraged to enjoy the space at any time when they are open, to stroll through the park area for exercise, or enjoy the free open-air concerts on Sundays during the summer. Halifax Public Gardens are maintained by the Halifax Regional Municipality. Employment opportunities pertaining to HRM maintenance positions, when available, can be found on the municipal website www.halifax.ca "Employment with HRM". Applications must be submitted through the on-line application process and meet all applicable deadlines.
