The Gardens are a public trust which we endeavour to protect while providing an enjoyable, safe and sustainable environment for all visitors.  We ask our visitors to please observe the following policies when visiting:

  • No pets.
  • No bikes in the Gardens. (Please use the bike racks available outside the Gardens' perimeter.)
  • No jogging.
  • No feeding the birds or waterfowl - they could become dependent on a human-provided food supply, which could interfere with their natural migratory patterns in the fall and spring. There is abundant natural food available for the ducks in the Gardens in season.
  • Please do not walk on the grass. The established pathways of the Gardens form beautiful, educational walks and the views from them reveal the Gardens as they were meant to be seen. Lawn activity is only permitted on the Family Lawn Area by the south-west gate (Spring Garden Road at Summer Street).
  • Wedding ceremonies are not permitted in the Gardens.
  • Wedding photos are welcome (no appointment necessary).
  • We know the Gardens are beautiful and memorable, but because of the potential impact on the fragile environment, the Public Gardens are not available to be booked for private functions or weddings of any size. Although no portion of the Garden can be booked for a wedding, you may have your wedding photographs taken in the Gardens, as long as your wedding party respects the lawns and features of the Gardens. You do not need to book these events, but keep in mind the Gardens are a popular place for wedding photos, and please respect any other wedding parties you may encounter and share the Gardens fairly.

Waste receptacles are provided throughout the Gardens. Please see attached for a brief guide on how to use them.
