Victoria Jubilee Campaign

The Friends of the Public Gardens (TFPG) have successfully concluded their public campaign to raise $200,000. We would like to thank all of our donors, who generously contributed to the success of this restoration campaign.

The impetus for this campaign came from a generous bequest of $100,000 made to TFPG by the late Mary Margaret (Sid) Jarvis of Halifax, NS. The money was to be used to fund capital projects within the Gardens to benefit the general public. The society pledged the $100,000 from the bequest and committed to raise a further $100,000 through this public appeal.
In partnership with Halifax Regional Municipality and the Government of Canada (Parks Canada), these funds contributed to the restoration of the Bandstand (completed in 2011)
and the Victoria Jubilee Fountain (completed in 2012). In 2013 the final phase, the replacement/restoration of the urns, was completed.

A beautiful poem was read at the unveiling of the Victoria Jubilee Fountain on October 13th, 2012. Click here to read the poem written by Tanya Davis.

TFPG Memorial Program

Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to celebrate special people or important events in our lives. Gifts can be made in memory of a loved one or to honour an event, individual or family. Every tribute gift is acknowledged with a card sent to the honoured individual or next of kin. Proceeds of the Memorial Program will be used to fund capital projects within the Gardens with the greatest need, unless specified otherwise.

TFPG Legacy Program

Leave your legacy with a planned estate gift or a tax saving gift. Through our Legacy bequests we have been able to make significant contributions to the preservation and enhancement of the Halifax Public Gardens. Legacy bequests can be directed toward a particular goal, such as our Jarvis Lecture series, or can be earmarked to a general fund which will be used to undertake capital projects with the greatest need.
